Participation in the DFBEW Political Evening in Paris
On 5 December 2024, the DFBEW, in partnership with the German Embassy in France, hosted a political evening with over 70 guests. IE2S attended to learn more about the DFBEW, its focus areas, and its members.
Event theme: "Dimensions of the E-Mobility Transition: Industry, Infrastructure, and Society"
The event aimed to foster dialogue between policymakers, businesses, and experts from Germany and France and to develop joint solutions for a sustainable mobility transition.
Programme highlights and discussions:
The evening began with remarks from the German Ambassador to France, Stephan Steinlein, who underscored the importance of Franco-German cooperation, particularly in the automotive sector. He stressed the need for collaboration to remain competitive globally, especially with countries like the USA and China. Sven Rösner, Managing Director of the DFBEW, emphasised the urgency of decisive political measures to advance the mobility transition.
Expert presentations and panel discussions followed, focusing on key topics such as:
- Expanding charging infrastructure: Overcoming challenges in creating a unified cross-border network.
- Promoting e-mobility: Comparing policies and incentives in Germany and France to accelerate adoption.
- Ensuring sustainable supply chains: Strategies for raw materials and battery production.
- Integrating renewables: The role of e-mobility as a flexible energy system consumer.
Key outcomes and future perspectives
Participants agreed on the need for stronger collaboration between Germany and France, particularly in developing technological standards and expanding fast-charging infrastructure. The importance of pilot projects was also highlighted as a means to test innovative approaches and foster public acceptance of emobility.
IE2S’s participation in this event was a significant step towards building valuable connections and reinforcing our commitment to the energy and mobility transition.
